California lemon law: read the Manual, please!

A recent study of Schrader, a company that creates tyre pressure monitoring systems, showed that one in every three people did not recognize the warning light tire pressure. Owning a vehicle also requires that consumers become aware of how to operate the vehicle and to recognize these warning indicators; information included in the owner's Manual.

Norman Taylor and Associates speak for many consumers who seek information about California's lemon law and the law may apply to them. Part of the review process requires a first hand account of the consumer who describes the problems that he or she is having with the vehicle. This includes information about that warning lights were triggered at the time the fault occurred. Sometimes warning lights are triggered that provide more information about which systems require attention. Sometimes warning lights will not be enabled at all; This does not necessarily mean that a defect is not present.

What can happen if a consumer does not read the owner's Manual? The dealer and the manufacturer can take advantage of the lack of consumer knowledge to deny various types of service and repairs. What consumers don't know can hurt your ability to seek redress under California's lemon law.

The manual has explicit instructions on maintenance types and schedules. If a consumer decides to ignore maintenance and later experiences engine defects, for example, the dealer can and will say; "This is a fix is not warrantable because the lack of maintenance caused the oil to sludge which destroyed the mechanism". It will be very difficult for the consumer to make a good case against his assertions. Good records of the regularly scheduled maintenance will quickly stop this madness. Part of the property is being aware of how to operate the vehicle, how to take care of the vehicle and what to do if something goes wrong.

What should be written in front of the owner's Manual is "ignore the contents of this manual at your peril." Know what's in your owner's Manual is no guarantee that you will make an event successful California lemon law but it will prevent you from sabotaging even in pursuit of a case.
